Mental Health In Canada

According to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health 1 in every 5 Canadians will experience a mental health illness.

They say that it is more likely to affect those ages 15 to 24 years old.  In a study they found that 39% of Ontario high school students indicated a moderate level of anxiety and depression.  A further 17% indicated more serious distress.

Oddly enough they found that men had a higher rate of substance use disorders than women, while women had higher rates of mood and anxiety issues.

They further found that mental and physical health were linked, and that people with mood disorders were at a higher risk of developing long-term medical conditions.
